It’s no secret that Colorado’s housing market is booming. New builds are popping up all over the place and more people are deciding to stay in their homes to renovate rather than move. Both of these require Builder’s Risk insurance. Builder’s Risk insures a structure while it is under construction. It covers things like materials, fixtures and some equipment during construction or renovation if a loss occurs. It is especially important during a remodel since your homeowners policy could exclude coverage if there is extensive renovation happening. Many issues can make the process lengthen and the cost increase, so it is important to cover extensions of contracts, debris and pollutant cleanup so that it does not fall on the homeowner. Another reason for the homeowner to carry the Builder’s Risk policy is so they are in charge of the finances if a loss occurs. The homeowner would then be able to disperse the funds as necessary, rather than allowing the contractor to maintain control. If you have questions on Builder’s Risk as a homeowner, or you are a General Contractor in need of a quote, please reach out to us by phone or text at 720-328-4983. We are always available to help get you and your project on track.

With the rise of insurance rates, many of us have been trying to cut costs. What is really important to remember is the cost vs the value of insurance. Cutting coverages to reduce costs isn’t going to end well in the case of a claim. You want to  know that that you and your family are fully protected and at the end of the day, cheap insurance isn’t good and good insurance isn’t cheap. We want to review your entire policy; home, auto, business and life to make sure the value is there. *Car repair costs are on a rise, there are more drivers and they are often distracted, the lives of your loved ones should never come second to the monthly bill that allows you make sure they are safe. Do you have MedPay? *When hail hits your home, will you covered? *The most important policy out there is a life insurance policy for yourself, spouse, parents and kids. You can’t prepare mentally for the unexpected, but would you be financially able to handle the burden? Let’s talk about the value of your insurance.

One of the most common things we see while reviewing policies with other companies is the lack of coverage to your roof. When things like ACV or Scheduled Roof Depreciation show up on your renewal it can be very confusing. Some companies have been switching their clients Replacement Cost (RC) to Actual Cash Value (ACV) without explaining these changes. We are here to help make sure you are fully covered, even if you aren’t our client. Replacement Cost will cover all costs to make your roof whole again, without factoring in depreciation. ACV will factor in the age and type of roof, often leaving client’s high and dry when it comes to paying out of pocket for a new roof. Scheduled Roof Depreciation acts like ACV and the company will actually give you a schedule of how much they will cover as the years go by. At the Schomburg Insurance Agency, we will make sure you have RC on your roof in order to be fully protected when disaster hits.  Living in Colorado, it is important to know what kind of homeowners coverage you have before you get hit in a hailstorm.  If you do have to replace your roof, please call us first to discuss making a claim and finding a reputable roofer. We will help walk you through the process and you will be on your way to saving nearly 50% on your homeowners insurance, all while upgrading your home with a new roof. Call us at 720-328-4983 to review your current policy.

carinsuranceincreaseUnfortunately, insurance rates have risen throughout Colorado this year. Natural disasters, such as hailstorms, are the leading cause for rate increases in home and auto insurance. 9News reported in June that Colorado has seen the highest amount of rate increases in the entire nation. We have had a huge influx of people moving to Colorado and with our high rates, many are going Uninsured.  The more people on our roadways is bound to mean more accidents and increasing a payout of 14% due to medical costs and vehicle repair costs rising. Our vehicles have been getting safer with better technology, but that in turn makes them more expensive to repair. We offer different options to make sure you are saving as much as possible for your coverage.
  • Bundling your insurance can save you up to 20% when you combine your home and car. We also offer discounts for adding life insurance, business insurance and specialty insurance as well.
  • Vehicles with alternative fuel save on insurance.
  • Different payment plans can lower your monthly bill. We have a pay in full option and paperless billing can save you up to 8%.
  • Apply for a Farmers Rewards Visa and earn 3x the points on Farmers premiums, home improvements and gas!
  • What do you do for a living? We reward the following occupations with a discount: Architects, airline pilots, CPA, teachers, dentists, doctors, engineers, firefighters, police officers, lawyers, librarians, nurses, scientists and military (active and retired.)
Schedule a review of your insurance to make sure all of your discounts are where they need to be and you are saving all you can! http://www.9news.com/money/personal-finance/consumer/colorado-car-insurance-jumps-15-on-average/251394618
